WATERSIDER KILLED

STRUCK BY SLING OF TIMBER. (Per Press Association) Auckland. Jan. John Vernon, 46, married, died in the hospital this morning from injuries sustained while working on the steamer Ulimaroa last evening. Vernon and a oompanon worker, Laurits Hansen, were struck by a sling of heavy timber. Vernon had his arm and leg broken, but Hansen’s injuries were not serious.
