RIFLE SHOOTING
AUCKLAND MEETING AT PENROSE.
The next few months promises to he a very busy and interesting period for the Tauranga Defence Rifle Club. Tbe Christmas and New Year holidays being ended, active shooting operations will commence again with the final shoot for the Memorial Cup to be fired next Saturday over ranges of 500 and GOD yards. The local club will be strohgly represented at the Auckland Rifle Association meeting to be held on the Penrose range on the 29th hist., and it is expected that in lespouse to the appeal of the above-mentioned Association to give as much support as possible. at least five members of the local club will compete at the meeting. All entries must be in the hands of the Auckland Secretary by the 14th inst.. and intending competitors are requested to either forward their entry forms direct to the Auckland Secretary or hand them to the Secretary of the Tauranga Club, who will forward all nominations of club members desirous of competing. The programme consists of six shoots in all from ranges 400 yards to !)()() yards and lengthy prize lists rather than big prizes will *l)e aimed at. In addition to prize money for both A and B grade shots a number of trophies have been generously donated for competition, so that all competitors have a good chance of getting in the prize lists. It is expected that the W hakatane and Raugitaiki Rifle Clubs will also be represented at Penrose, where much valuable experience is likely to be gained by young members of the Bay of Plenty rifle clubs.
