SOCIAL AT PAPAMOA

(From a Correspondent.) A very p..,-aat evening was spent at Upper Papumoa in Mr Len Harris’ commodious burn on Wednesday in the lonn of a social and dance given by l iie bachelors of the settlement. The building was tastefully decorated with bunting (kindly lent for the occasion bv Mr T. Moncur). worked across the ceiiIre in a pretty design representing ihc Union Jack, supplanted with nikau fronds and bush greenery formed into arches, upon which many col ucJ lights were suspended, giving the hall quite an arbour effect. Many townspeople made the trip by motor from both Taux-anga and Tc Puke. The floor was in splendid order, whilst the music was in the capable hands of Mrs Reid (piano) and Messrs Alf Fox, L. Harris and J. Stale (accordcon), the last-men-tioned making also an efficient master of ceremonies. Dancing was the order ol (lie evening and card tables were provided for those so inclined. A (1 (inly supper was served at midnight. Duets were contributed by Misses E and H. Sorrensen and recitations by Miss Mona Harris and Master Trevor Harris. Dancing was indulged in flit 3 a.in., one and all voting it one of the joitiest socials held in the district and many thunks were extended lo Mr Leu Harris for the painstaking manner in which he had arranged the imvf ion and for placing his spacious i nilding at the disposal of the settlers.
