GOVERNMENT’S LONDON MEMBER RESIGNS MR PATERSON OBJECTS TO MR WRIGHT. Me Coales had agreed to this. Mr Paterson also quotes a letter Jr wrote to Mr Co<>tes on December 38. m which he said ho was content to carry on his duties us long as he had Mr Coates’ confidence. At a meeting of Hie Hoard in January, the following resolution was can ried —“That the Acting Prime Minislci be written lo and informed that MS Paterson, the Government’s nominee on the London Agency, is not supporting Hie policy of Hie Hoard and is making the position in London very difficult, and Hie Board considers that Mr Paterson should be retired from the Agency.s On March 12, the Minister of Agricul. lure replied, slating Hint the Board’s representations had been carefully con sidered, and that "the Government if satisfied with the manner in wlncn Mr Paterson has 'discharged his duties as ils representative on Ihc London Agen. cy, and in ihe absence of evidence cannot sue its wai- to take action in the direction suggested in the Board’s rosolulion.” Mr Paterson is a member of the firm of A. S. Paterson and Company.
