OBITUARY

MU WALTER COMMON BELL,

It is our sad duty tu record the death of an old and very highly respected resident of this district in the person of Mr Waller Common Beil, which occurred at his residence, Cambridge Roadj on Saturday alter a long illness. The late Mr Bell, who was seventy-two years of age, was born in Dumfries.shire, Scotland, and followed the occupation of a farmer, lie came out to New Zealand forty years ago and after residing in Hawke's Bay and North Auckland for two years, look up a farm on the Cambridge Boad, on which he had resided up to the time of his death. He was one of the most practical farmers iu the district and brought his property to the highest producing capacity. He took a keen interest iu all public affairs and was one of the founders of the Tauranga Agricultural and Pastoral Association. He had been a member of the Judea Drainage Board and was | on the directorate of the Tauranga Co-operative Dairy Association for fourteen years, only resigning less than a year ago on account of illhealth. He was an elder of St. | Peter's Presbyterian Church for many years. Mr Bell was a man of sterling character and was held in high esteem t>y all who knew him. He leaves to mourn their loss a widow and one son, Mr W. P. Bell, who resides on the Cambridge Boad property. The funeral will leave deceased s late residence at I.JO p.m. to-morrow for the Tauranga cemetery.

A telegram was received lie re today from Sumner, announcing the death of Mr W. A. S. Willoox, who was formerly postmaster at Taurauga, mid, had a long association with the Post and Telegraph Department. The sympathy of many friends in this district will be extended to the family in their bereavement.
