BEAUFORT INJURED. Sydney. July 25 The turf career of the racehorse Beaufort has probably been ended. While he was waiting to start in a race at \Uarwick Farm he received a kick which caused a deep wound behind one knee and severed a tendon. Beaufort had wen IT races and £17,000 in prize money Among others he has defeated Gloaming and Eurythuiio. SOUTH CANTERBURY HUNT. The South Canterbury Hum Club’s steeplechase meeting was held at Washdyke on Saturday in fine weather and before a large attendance. The course was in excellent order. The totalisator handled £13.745. compared with £12.342 10/ at the corresponding meeting last year. Results are; Hadlow Hack Hurdles.—(l) Projector 1, (6) Wharncjiffe 2, (4) Uleaborg 3. Won easily. Time 2m 495. Pareora Hunters' Steeplechase.— (2) Flourish 1. (8) Royal Fashion 2. (1) Mataipuka 3. Won by four lengths. Time 4m 20 3-ss. Peterline, Auburn and Peter Marion fell. South Canterbury Steeplechase. 2, (2) Whipcord 3. Also started: (5) Kipling, (3) Frenchman. (4) Osterman. (6) Mandrake. Won by two lengths, with a neck between second and third horses. Time 5m 21 2/ss. Levels Hack Handicap.—(s) Tholoman 1, (3) All Colours 2, 1) John Bradbury 3. Won by half a length. Time 1m 16s. • Washdyke Trot Handicap. Killinchy 1, (7) Pretty Pointer 2. (2) Hoon Hay 3. Won by five lengths. Time 3m 22 4/ss. Teschemaker Memorial Steeplechase. — (1) Mainspring 1, (3) Nyanza 2, (7) Lark Hall 3. Won by four lengths. Time 2m 475. July 25 The board of control of the Australian and New Zealand Coursing Union has allotted to the New Zealand Coursing Association the running of next year’s Australian and New Zealand Waterloo Cup.
