The Ranker was the first to show out. Count Cavour and To Kara were also prominent. At the end of two furlongs Waetea took charge. At the mile, post Te Kara ’ joined Waetca. Kalakaua and Waetea were beaten at the entrance of the straight. A great race ensued, The Banker winning by half-a-length from Te Kara, with Count Cavour a head away. I Time 3m 255.
