Dobbin- (on behalf of the Club), who said that many residents in tliar portion of the town had felt that the time had arrived when another A club in Tauranga was necessary, and out of that feeding the club had been 3d created -and tli o grounds formed. The clu'h was starting out with a very fair membership, and it was Cell that as •the town progressed, a greater number of people would he taking an interest ’ -in bowls and in tennis, and so the membership would increase. In conclusion Mr Robbins expressed 'his pleasure' at seeing so many visitors present, and apologised for the absence of Mr T. H j Phillips, President of the Tauranga 0 Bowling Club, who was unable to he present. He was glad, however, that ; So many members of that club had been j able to attend, and trusted there would B he many matches between the two B clubs. When the annual tournament of the Tauranga Club was held the Tauparirua Club would he only too pleased to render wlia?ever assistance it could. Mrs J. Bruce Beale then threw up the first jack, and Mrs Cyril Jordan hit the first 'ball across the nets, and the grounds were declared open. Play was then commenced and a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon was spent, afternoon tea being served by the ladies.
