The proposal t° have the Tauranga district represented by an exhibit at the New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition, at Dunedin, was advanced on Thursday, when the committee, appointed by local bodies for the purpose, took definite steps to further the objectRecommendations from the Tauranga J members of the committee were receiv- j ed as follows : (1) That the Auckland 1 Executive be asked whether the anmunts voted by the Tauranga Borough and County -Councils were a sufficient contribution to the general fund to enable the Tauranga district to make an exhibit in the Auckland Court; (2) In the event of an affirmative reply being received to the foregoing, a local organiser be appointed to- arrange the exhibit and canvass for subscriptions’;© defray expenses. In submitting the recommendations, Messrs B. O. Robbins, F. N, Christian and A. J Mirrielees, stressed the need for the appointment of a, responsible organiser to collect tbe required produce etc, and arrange and despatch the exhibit to Auckland ; also to raise—by way of subscriptions—the money necessary to meet the cost of assembling and despatching the exhibit. It was thought that it would he necessary to raise about £loo for this purpose. The committee passed the following resolutions: — That the secretary (Mr R. B. Shearman) be instructed to communicale with (he Auckland Executive asking whether tbe privilege of making an exhibit in tbe Auckland Court will b? extended to tbe Tauranga. district m return for the amounts voted to the fund by the Tauranga. Borough and County Councils. That m the event of the Auckland Executive agreeing to tbe foregoing proposal. Mr B. C. Robbins be appointed organising secretary to undertake the dudes as outlined by the Tauranga members. That in view of tbe appointment of Mr Robbins (chairman) as organiser, Mr Christian he chairman of the committee and Mr A. H. P. Biiasco, treasurer. Tha a hanking account he opened and he operated upon by tbe Chairman and Secretary.
