GRAY CUP MATCHES The Hockey Association’s compeltion jn connection with the Gray Cup was continued yesterday afternoon. Hinemoas defeated Aretas hy two goals to one. Miss M. Brewer scored both goals for the winners and Miss I. Merriman .scored for the. Aretas. Mr A. Leslie was referee. Maroros defeated Girl Guides by three goals to two. Miss Lloyd scored all three goals for the winners. For Girl Guides Misses K. Kennedy and J. Randle cached goaled. Mr. H. P. Duff was referee. Australia v, Manawatu Australia defeated Manawatu at Palmerston North yesterday by three goals to two. Fred Sim mends formerly of Tauranga, scored on© of the'goals for Manawatu. Palmerston North July 16. Although the Australian. Hockey players were at a great disadvantage in coming straight off the boat and making a hurried journey hero, they succeeded in beating the local side hy 3 goals to 2. ' The game was scientific and in the second spell, the visitors outplayed their opponents. Nettlcton (Australia) was unfortunate enough to receive a severe injury to his knee and had to retire.
