The following report was submitted t<l lie Borough Council on Wednesday by Air Lloyd Alandenc, borough engineer: “With the advent of better weather, some progress has beei\ possible- at, the McLaren's Falls site. Transport of commit is now well in hand, and 150 tons arc* in store at the works. Advice is to hand that the Power Hcnse cram 1 is shortly to be landed at Auckland, and the heavy plant will be delivered nearly tip to contract time, according te.- the latest reports- The penstock steel pipe is expected in a fortnight- ,and the lining of the penstock tunnel will be commenced when this pipe-has been set in position. At the power house the walls are mostly now up to near the upper floor level, amj the “L‘:iiyg.ef the heavy concrete raft fcrnbhg the generator door, wll be soon effected, so as to leave' a clear space fertile contractor for the upper portion of the struct lire to commence upon. AI the spillway, seine ‘2OO yard? of coticfete has been placed, and' this job should now proceed expeditiously. Some tfcubic has been met with the vvesieril abutment of the main dam. and the CM'avation is being taken in further to 6iisure a reliable foundation. The Irifake structure is completed to witli'n 18 inches of the up, some 500 yards ef concrete having been placed into this w rk. The - transmission line fr m McLaren‘s te Tannnga is completed and can be pm inie use at short uniem whmt the Pest and Telegraph Department have- their reconstruction work somewhat further advanced.
