Apart, from hold-ups reported recently, many minor robberies with violence have occurred. A number of houses and buildings have been broken into and ransacked. A number of citizens have taken the advice of the (mniniissioner of Roliee. and have armed themselves with various kinds of weapons. The Chief Secretary does not approve oi this advice. He favours tightening up the law so as to break the organised gangs of criminals.
