TEACHER’S SALARIES

(Per Press Association-.) Wellington, July 9. The Hon. ('. J. Parr, addressing a conference of officers of the Education Department, Education Boards, and the Education Institute -regarding teachers’ salaries, stipulated- that no scheme could be accepted meaning an increase in -the present aggregate of £1,0*25,000 paid as primary school salaries. The Government was prepared to consider a scheme for redistribution if it gave general satisfaction. Something must be done to abolish the present seven- grades only separated by ,£lO, which led to frequent changes in the staff.
