THE PUBLIC HALL; (From our Correspondent). For the last two years the Hall Committee have been gathering in funds from all quarters for tlie purpose of improving the public hall, and sufficient funds are now in hand to make a start in' the near future. Tenders will be called for the work. On Wednesday night a plain and fancy dress and masked ball was held in aid of the above funds. Although the weather was not at its best the function was a brilliant success, eighty five people being present. Thirty were in fancy dress or masked. Some of the costumes were well get up. Phizes were given (by vote) for the most original and the prettiest costumes. The prizes were won by Miss Johanner “Boy Blue" prettiest; Miss R. Henley “Newsboy," original; Mr P. Rea, “Parson," original; Mr A. Baxendihe “Indian Rajah." prettiest. Amongst those attired in costume were: —
