PICNIC AT TAURIKO

A combined picnic of members of the Omanawa and Cambridge Hoad Branches of the Farmers’ Union and the Kaimai Branch of the Dairy Farmers’ Union was held at Tauriko on the 9th instant in a paddock kindly lent by Mr Wade. The day was everything that could be desired and a. good number assembled. Refreshments were dispensed. and games were indulged in. Appended is the list of the various races;— Boys’ Race, 8 years and under —A. Prime, 1; B. Prime, 2; E. King 3. Girls’ Race, 8 vears and under —M. Moore, 1; F. Wade, 2; J. Pridie 3, Boys’ Race, 14 years - F. Bennett 1 ; G. Belk 2 ; Mulgrove 3. Girls’ Race, 14 years -E. Billing 1; R. Billing 2 ; L, Moore 3. Young Ladies’ Racer- Miss Belk, 1; Miss Jensen 2. Young Men's Race— N. Inglis and A. Patterson, dead heat 1. Married Women’s Racer- Mrs A. Jensen, 1; Mrs Black 2. , Married Men’s Race—N. Gordon, 1; T. Black 2. Cigarette Race —A. Scott and MrsT. H. Scott, jnr., 1; Mr and Mrs Prime, 2. Beys’ Consolation Race - R. Prime, 1; V. Prime 2; H. Deuzer 3. Girls’ Consolation Race L. Moore 1, J. Bidder 2; N. Haslip 3. Tng-of-War - Farmers v. Mill employees. This resulted in a, win for the farmers by two points to one. Three cheers were given for Mr Wade for the use of his. paddock.
