“I HAVE A GRIEVANCE”

MR. LYSNAE AND YESTEYS

Coming events cast their shadows before them, and a hint of coming •" events was conveyed by Mr W. D. Lysnar, M.P., during an address to the Minister of Agriculture on the 14th inst., in connection with the acquisition of the Poverty Bay iaimers’ Meat Company by Vestey Bros. “I am largely interested in this ,matter,” stated Mr Lysnar. “I want to- state openly and plainly "that I have a grievance against you as Minister of Agriculture, and against the Meat Board. The matter is one of vital importance, but I do not intend to press that aspect of the question to-night. I shall, however, take opportunity of dealing with it fully on some- future occassion. But rest assured, the voice of the company and of the directors will be made heard in the matter. No Government can stand says trusts can operate in the Dominion, and if the present Government allows them to operate it, must fall. I state that plainly and openly, and I repeat I have a grievance against you and against the Board.” The remarks of Mr Lysnar were replied to by Mr Nosworthy in his ,reply to a, deputation on the same question. ‘‘lt is admitted that the 'Government has not) a big majority,” said the Minister, “but even if the Government is dependent upon cue or two votes, let me tell you this; The Government is prepared to go out of office with dignity and with honour rather than hold office through bowing tb the dictates of one or two private members. (Hear, bear.) If I were placed in the same position again, I would act in precisely the same way, but it- is probable that in any other case I would act differently.” Mr Lysnar: I did not say I had a grievance against the Government but against the Minister of Agriculture, but I am prepared to make it

a question for the Government, and 1 think there are other matters which can be mad© questions for the Government.

Mr Nosworthy: If you have a grievance against me, you have a grievance against the Government. Mr Lysnar: That remains to be seen.

Mr Ncsworthy: I expect the whole matter will he ventilated fully within the next three months.--Pov-erty Bay Herald.
