Sydney Sun Cable. Rec. Dec. 19, 10.40 a.m. London, Dec. 18. Three hundred and fifty feet of the after part of the Armagh is afloat. It is hoped to salvage the cargo- therein. Paris, Dec. 18. The German Government has transmitted a request to the Repara (ions Commission that a credit of seventy million dollars for the purchase of cereals and edible fats will bo'granted priority under the Versailles Treaty ova- the reparations obligations. It is pointed out that the harvest shortage will make Germany dependent upon foreign credit. Foreign banka are prepared to give credit for three years, provided they are- granted priority over reparations. The German newspapers share Dr Stresemaun s view that the Paris negotiations are not promising' and point-out that no Government! could possibly negotiate cn a basis intended merely to facilitate the Franco-Belgian exploitation of the Ruhr. The papers express surprise that the British newspapers have failed to see through Poincare’s manoeuvres. Berlin, Dec. 18. The Stiock Exchange Journal warns Germans against the illusion that Poincare is likely to surrender any of his Ruhr booty. San Francisco, Dec. 18.
