Aa*ociA*’o*i Fee Sept 27, morning New York, Sept 26 At Marion, Illinois, forty-one men, indicted for murder in various degrees in connection with the Herrin massacre, were arraigned. Twenty-three were released on bonds varyi g / rom 5,000 to 20,000 dollars. Eight were refused bail. Two others, indicted for murder, have not yet been apprehended. Ihe men to whom bail was refused were designated by the Grand Jury as the ringleaders. Only one of them is of foreigh birth, the others belonging to old American families. The townsmen of the indicted men supplied bail in those cases where it was granted, the total being more than 3.066, 000 dollars. A union official canvassed all the business men, declaring now was the lime for them to show whether they were for or against the Union.
