The Cabinet has considered the question of opening up and populating the country, and adopted a minute in regard to various developmental questions which has been telegraphed to Mr W. M. Hughes with the object of opening up negotiations with the Federal Government for financing developmental ports with, assistance from the British and Federal Governments. Parliament meets on April ‘26 for a short session. The new Stale Cabinet has decided for the present year to reimpose the super-lax of 6d in theT on incomes, but. the ordinary tax on incomes will not be altered. Mr W, E. Wearnc (Minister of Lands) has announced that the Government is determined that land- settlement shall be the chief plank in its policy Only a sound land policy will pull the State out of its financial difficulties.
