A largo number of athletes competed, including runners from Wellington, Feilding, Waikato, Te Aroha and Bay of Plenty districts. The racing was decidedly interesting, and many of the finishes were very close. The principal event, the 120 yards handicap, was run in two beats and a final, the Matangi (Waikato) athlete J.
