Cuthbert took over, the Masonic Hotel, and immediately entered into negotiations for the com. plete renovation of the interior of the building- This work has now been completed ■ and every apartment in the house, and also the passages, have' been re« scrimmed and re-papered, the work of renovation having been carried out in a very tasteful and efficient manner by Messrs R. W. Cuthbert (junior) and J. Main. Prior to coming to Tauranga Mr Cuthbert was engaged in the hotel-keeping business at Mangawhare, Northern Wairoa, where he conducted the Commercial Hotel for some years.
