BEES AS FERTILISERS.

The value of bees as seed fertilisers has been thoroughly demonstrated tii a Wairarapa farmer. Desiring to obtain a crop of lucerne seed the farmer shut up a paddock of lucerne to allow the seed to mature, but was disappointed with the results. He was told the crop wanted a fertiliser, and was advised to run a few colonics of bees near the lucerne. He got a triend to run about 100 colonies near the spot, with the result that the nqxt time he grew for seed he succeeded far bevond his expectations,
