TAURANGA REFEREES’ AS SOCIATION. A meeting to form a Eootball Re forces' Association was held in Mr, E. J. Hall's shop last night, Mr. \V. Churchill presiding. There Were also present ; Messrs. E. Munro, L. T. Fall well, L. J. Hall, and 11. P. Duff. Several apologies were received for non-attendance. It was unanimously agreed to form an association to be known as the Tauranga Referees’ Association. It was agreed to immediately affiliate with the Auckland Referees' Association. Mr. I. T. Fall well was appointed secretary. It was decided to write to the Tauranga Rugby Union and* local Football Clubs asking for financial support to meet the Association s expenses. The Secretary was authorised to write t<> the Tauranga Rugby Union requesting that teams be ready for play at the appointed time. It was decided to insist on the observance of th's regulation in order that, matches may be played under proper lighi conditions. It was decided that the association meet weekly on Thursday evening at Mr. L. J. Hall’s shop at 7.30. It was‘decided that members must not, be Rugby players or members of any football club'or rugby union. Referees for to-day’s matches were appointed as under: Seniors Tauranga v. Maiakana, Mr. I. T. Fall well ; Raugataua v. Mount Maiinganui, Mr. E. Munro. Junior Grade. Raugataua v. Maiakana, Mr. L, J. Hall; Te Puna v. Tauranga, Mr. H. P. Duff. The Association w : ll bo pleased if any intending members will communicate with Mr, T. T. Fallwell. It is probable that an examination will be held at an early date. Tlie formation of the Association is a step in the right direction and should be a decided factor in the raising of the Rugby code in this district.
