ARRANGEMENT FOR TAURANGA REGATTA

Meeting of Committee

A meeting of the Regatta Committee was held in the Secretary's office on Tuesday evening. Present: Messrs B. C. Robbins f C Srman), W- Churchill, G. H. Lv T Moncur, E. Chadban, H. TCastaing.C. Tonkin, B. Dive, r W Henderson, P. Densem, and C C. Norris, (hon. secretary). Mr B C. Robbins was elected chairman of the executive com rnittee. . . The resignation of LieutenantColonel Wilson from the com mittee was accepted with regret, and Mr J. H. Beale was elected to fill the vacancy. Mr Chadban was authorised to arrange for procuring a gun for use on regatta day. A system of starting with Hags and gun was decided on. Five flags willbe shown five minutes prior to starting ; a flag will be dropped at minute intervals, and on the fall ot the fifth flag the gun will be fired and the race started. A special number board, denoting each principal event and its fprogramme number, will be displayed on the eastern end of the Town Wharf for observation by "competitors in boats. • It was agreed to ask the Yacht and Power Boat Club, and Swimming and Rowing Clubs to each appoint a deputy judge, to act 'with the official judge in each Club's special events, the names of the deputy judges to be submitted to the next meeting of the Committee tomorrow night. ' The three clubs were also ' requested to submit suggested racing rules to the'same meetingIt was agreed that each boat shall ' cany a distinguishing number for each event, same to be supplied-by the club and sold to competitors at a small charge. The Secretary was instructed to puichase a set of stencils for numbering work; and to make all arrangements for barricading the Town and Victoria Wharves, and appointment of gatekeepers. • It was decided to close the Victoria Wharf to the public. The Secretary was instructed to take out a general accident policy to cover regatta day. It was decided to issue tickets to bona fide members for. all privileges on regatta'day. All who have subscribed £1 is or over to the funds are entitled to membership. It was decided to register the Club- "under the Unclassified Societies Act. Admission to the wharf was fixed at is for adults, and half price for schoolchildren. -Messrs Chadban,Denser^ Maltby and Oliver were appointed a . sub committee to arrange for seating, roping off, etc, on the Town Wharf onßegattaDay. The next meeting of the" committee will be held at 7.30 to morrow evening-
