In this year's Christmas Num.- ! ber which is now on sale, the proprietors of the New Zealand Sporting and Dramatic Review have risen to the occasion and j have set the standard for high art publication. It is a veritable1 edition de luxe, the illustration's ' in their two colour design standing as a_ testimony to skill and artistry in reproduction. The cover presents an effective design in blue, green and senna and opens on to a frontispiece of typical appeal, entitled "After the Christmas 'Kai' ". The long list of pages is lightened by photographs representing every place of holi day interest in New Zealand from the Far North to the snowy regions of Otago, embracing beautiful scenes on the Wanganui River, roadside and harbour views at Auckland, the waterfall nearTongariro, the snow-capped Ruapehu and Mt. Ngaurahoe, views of the River Avon, Hot Lakes and Cold Lakes scenery, children and Maori studies and a host of other entrancing subjects. Further frcm home are the picturesque Katoomba and Leura Falls in New South Wales, striking views of pastoral areas in that country served by irrigation and scenes indicating the productive industries of Queensland. The Island scenery of Samoa is depicted '"n a splendid set of native villages and plantations while views of Suva are of outstanding interest. The whole compilation is one of. worthy merit in its picturesque arrangements, cosmopolitan selection an d strength of plate design. A keen demand has set in, so purchasers are advised to secure a copy (is 6d as early as possible.
