Farmers' Auctioneering Co., Ltd.
The Fanners' Co-operative Auctioneering Co. Ltd., Hamilton, report under date November Beef has receded in value since our last report. Competition is, however, brisk, up to the present level. The outlook for the coming " freezing .season seems hopeful and a declaration from the export companies is eagerly awaited. Mutton has also suffeied'a declineand that much more pronounced than beef. There is not a great amount offering locally;----nevertheless a very cold reception/ is accorded. ■ The store cattle market is/anything but buoyant, a good deal of fluctuation bei n g apparent. Grown steers are in, strong demand, also empty cows in fresh condition. Two year dairy heifers find ready sale in all markets, but steers of the same age, unless good quality, arc not so popular. Best yearling heifers also draw good competition, but the demand for yearling steers is* very spasmodic. The market for store.sheep is . still very weak and comparatively little business is being transacted.. No reliable indication of the prospect ahead has yet been given and operations are in consequence slow in 'their movements. Quotations ojf shears are not tempting and until these are reduced or the prospect brightens there is little hope of much result-
Dairy cattle are selling briskly J in all markets,- indeed there is a strong unsatisfied demand for good dairy animals of every.breed.
Although in a general sense horses are somewhat easier than a month or two ago, there is still a good enquiry for reliable animals. Heavy horses especially were never more sought after and sales at high figures are frequent. . Fat pigs have advanced considerably at recent sales, thereturns from some of the yardings working out at I2d a pound. There is* a strong and constant demand. Slips and weaners bo. the other hand are not quite up to the values realised a short time ogo.
