The captain and crew ol the scow walked overland from Tai rua to Mercury Ray on Tuesday to join the Daphne, which wall bring them up to Auckland. The Te Teko is the fifth vessel that has been wrecked in the vi cinity of Slipper Island. The scow Surprise was wrecked there over fifteen years ago with the loss ol four lives, a Norfolk Islander named H. Jackson bein^ the only survivor. While entering the Tairua Heads, the threemasted scow Zingara struck a rock, ailed and sank. She was afterwards salved. A similar fate befel the scow Tramp, which was also salved, About two years a^o the steamer Wairoa was wrecked on the Tairua Bar, and became atotal loss.
