Protest From Soldiers'

Association

Speaking at the general meeting of the Western Bay of Plenty Returned Soldiers' Association last night, Mr C. N. Clark (secretary) stated mat the Association had renewed its representations that the Hosking Estate, Otamarakau, should be thrown open for returned soldiers on open selection, and not on separate selection for pakeho-s and for Maoris. Communications had been forwarded to the Prime Minister, Hons. W. 11. Hcrries, and D. H. Guthrie, Colonel Mitchell, Mr F. F. Hockly, Hon. W. D. S. Macdonaid, and every Mem her of the House of Representatives. The letters had been despatched a few days ago. Later in the meeting. Mr R. Petherbridge moved : That the Government be urged to make the Hosking Estate available for settlement on open selection —Mr Todman seconded. Mr C." F. Johnston stated that representations on the matter had been made to Mr Hockly, M.P., for the Rotorua district. The motion was carried unanimously. It was also decided to communicate the resolution to the Prime Minister and the Parliamentarians above mentioned.
