Mr A. Dickie has purchased from Mr J. Conway three cottages and four sections at the comer of Cameron Road and Wharf street, and shop and two sections at the corner of Spring and Durham Streets. Mr Dickie has also bought an allotment next the Baptist Tabernacle. Mr Dickie's purchases in the town during the week represent £4,000. A combined meeting of the Committees appointed by the Borough Council and Chamber of Commerce to endeavour, in con? junction with Te Puke, to secure the visit of the Prince of Wale's to the district will be held in the Borough Council Chambers tomorrow night at 7.30. Five teams from Te Puke visited Tauranga to-day to play for the Butcher Cup. Mr and Mrs Essey, of Eltham, are spending a holiday in Tau ranga and are staying at th'e Commercial Hotel. A very despicable and dishonourable act is reported as having occurred on the waterfront on Tuesday evening. Tworobroy canoes, belonging to two little boys who make considerable use of "them, were found badly ripped. The matter has been placed in the hands of the police, and it is to be hoped that the culprits will be given an opportunity of explaining their reprehensible conduct at the court. Considerable interest is being evinced in the bowling tournament to open here on Tuesday next and continue for four days. No less than twenty-eight teams will compete, including bowlers from Auckland, Waikato, King Country, Rotorua and the Bay of Plenty. The tournament will be played on the Tauranga and Te Koa green. , In the paragraph in yesterday's issue regarding the comedy "Facing the Music," it should have stated that the visiting bowlers will be the guests of the local Bowling Club at the entertainment in the Town Hall on. Tuesday next.
