1 nfluenza Epidemic. Tauranga Hospital and Charitable Aid Board and Department of Public Health. TELEPHONE 14 INSTRUCTIONS HOW TO ACT. To assist the authorities in efficiently coping with the influenza epidemic the following suggestions * are made: — If you are in want of assistance send a message to the Secretary at the Central Office, the Mart, Willow Street, or ring up 'Phone No. 14. If you know of anyone needing assistance let the Secretary know. If you are willing to assist in any way, or know of anyone else willing to assist, let the Secretary know. Do not ring up the Hospital unless imperative. Anything you want to know ring up the Secretary. Do not ring up the Hospital to ask whether cases * j can be taken in. Application must be made to the Doctor or to the Secretary. No.case will be moved to the Hospital which, in the opinion of the visiting doctor, can be nursed at home. As far as possible nurses and voluntary aid women will visit and assist at houses where no other aid is available. In matters of medical and nursing aid, preference will be given to the more seriously ill. WHEN ATTACKED. First tepid sponge face and then body, keeping body covered except part being sponged. Keep the bed linen as clean as possible, doors and windows open, but keep patient out of draught. DELIRIOUS CASES. Hot Compress to feet. Cold Compress to head. Apply Compress to feet first. BLEEDING. Cold Compress to back and neck, and raise patient's head. NOT FEET. PNEUMONIA. Hot Compress on back between shoulders, which must be kept hot.
