French Army Still Powerful.

Washington, Aug 4 M. Andre Tardiu, FreDch Misfiioner, in a latter to Mr Baker, Secretary for War, says :—« France is still powerful. She has now 3,000,000 men in the fighting line and also many thousands in training. Durin« the last half of 1916 cbe. total French killed, missing, and taken prisoner was only 1-28 per cent of the total mobilisation. The French are holdiug 356 miles on the west front, the British 85 miles, and the Belgians 65 miles. The French are using 6000 heavy guns, compared with 300 at the beginning of the war r aud fired mere than twelve billiou shots of all calibres in the last great offensive."
