VIOLENT FIGHTING f STILL CONTINUES. Desperate Battle for Italian Positions. .Rome, June 9 A communique states that extremely violent fighting continues on the Setti comuni Plateau. The battle for our positions east of Compomulo raged desperately until eleven at night. Our infantry made hecatombs of their assailants, 203 bodies being counted in front of a siDgle company. The enemy received enormous reinforcements yesterday, and after an intense bombardment the infantiy renewed the attacks east of Asiago and Oompomulo. We repeatedly repulsed t'ae attacks and courageously counterattacked with the bayonet, but at the end of the day fell back one hundred metres to avoid the enemy's incessant artillery. Italian Transports Attacked. Home, June 10 Two submarines attacked three Italian transports in the Lower Adriatic, and torpedoed the principal vessel, the Umberto, which sank in a few minutes About half the soldiers were drowned.
