Commission Presents Report.

Wellington, Oct C> The report of tlic Education Boundaries Commission was laid upon the table of the House yesterday. The report recommenls the reduction of the existing thirteen districts to seven, which are as follows:— Auckland, AVauganui, HawkeY Bay, Wellington, Canterbury, Otago, Southland.

The Auckland district remains much as it was, with small extensions on the East Coast.

The other chief alterations are as 'ollows :—

Wanganui is virtually the old Wanganui district with the inclusion of .two small.counties in- the Upper Wanganui district, and the old Edu■jation district of Taranaki. VVelliugton will absorb the Education district of Marlborough and Murcbison and Collingwood. Canterbury absorbs Westland and Grey and a portion of Nelson. Otago remains intact, with a very considerable addition from the South Cauterbtuy district. Southland will remain much as it was. The districts which the report proposes to absorb are : — Taranaki, Westlaud, Grey, Marlborough, Nelson, and South Canterbury.

Wellington, Oct 5 In the House this afternoon the Minister of Education stated that his colleagues did not agree with the recommendation of the Royal Commission to.reduce the Education Districts to seven. A Bill will be introduced this session to increase the number of districts, which will be less than the original thirteen,
