INDIA'S LOYALTY.
Simla, Oct 2. \ Lord Hardinge, Viceroy and Governor- j General of India, in closing the autumn session of the Legislative Council, said he was pleased that the University Bill had become law after discussions extending over four years. Order had been restored in the Punjaub, which was disturbed by emigrant* returning from Canada and the United States imbued with revolutionary ideas, and he appreciated the assist ance given by the loyal people of Punjaub in hunting down dangerous desperadoes. The Amir of Afghanistan since the beginning of the war had observed strict neutrality and he believed that attitude would be rigidly maintained. Lord Hardinge paid a tribute to the loyalty and patriotism Which India had displayed in the European war. As the war progresied the pressure would be felt more and more, but they must show the world that all attempts to create | trouble and sedition in India will be I fruitless.
