Auckland, May 7 At the annual meeting of the Band of Hope Up ion a proposal that Bishop A v Till be a vice president caused fome discussion. Mr C B King opposed any smokers being vica presidents of Band of Hope Unions. Ho was always strongly against smoking as we'l a9 diinking- Several other speakers took a more liberal view and it was stated that oue of the vire presents already holding office was an inveterate smoker, The Bishop was only elected subject to his consent to accept the position, the chairman remarking that he was afraid ho could not call the vote unanimous.
