Tin: Town Clerk wrote intimating that the matter or watering Cameron Road on hot days had been referred to the iii'i'iugh Surveyor to carry

Accounts amounting {<> -! l (<)* were passed for payment. Tjio Visiting Committee, Messrs Crabbe and dickers, reported having visited the District High School during the month. They stated that the scholars seemed to he well behaved, and courteous and diligent in their duties. The cleaning arrangeme,it.s are satisfactory and the dividing fence has been placed in croud order by Mi Adams. The'back door of the infant department needs looking to. as It will n<>t lock properly. The curtain is to hand and will be fixed in a few days. Four desks and one top of a desk are broken in the high schoolroom and need immediate attention. The headmaster wishes to know what he was to do in the way of providing glass cases for the museum ami intends to draw a rough plan of the size, etc. For some time past the horses in the paddock of Sixth Avenue have been getting out, and several children have had to walk home. The. gate is very often knocked about, and several of the posts need replacing: repairs are needed The school bell has cracked lately The vegetable portion of the experimental ground has been dug and a crop of rape is showjng above ground Tt is to be hoped that this Committee in their annual report will make some suggestions for the early planting of trees and shrubs in the schoolgrounds, as this mattet was over-

The Chairman, after inquiring from the Treasurer, said lie was afraid the Committee could not at proscnt make a vote from its funds towards the cases for'the museum It was decided :
That repairs be ell'ected to the paddock where the horses of pupils are accommodated, tlie work to be supervised by Mr Crabbe : expenditure to be limited to £ L
That the suggestion re planting trees be noted for the information of the new committee
That the bell be inspected, and. if necessary, application be made for a
new one
That repairs be made to desks
At the request of Mr Steplienson, master of the 3it i\laung<iniii sclioo], it was decide*! to supply material for covering library books: also that steps be taken to prevent sand drift ing into sink. The question of supplying a glass case for tlie accommodation of specimens which will form the nucleus of a. museum was hekl over till next meeting.
