EULOGY BY CHIEF JUSTICE

THEIR FUTURE HOPE

Hamilton, March 7

In connection with the celebrations to commemorate tho fall of v rakau the Secretary of the Jubilee Committee has received a letter from Sir Kobert Stout, Chief Justice, in which he states that he knew Rowi Maniapoto, and some of the other brave Maori who took part in this celebrated fight. He also knew Captain Jackson and others who fought on that memorable occasion. "The Maoris," says Sir .Robert, "are a noble people, and tho reply of Rowi "Ka wha whai tonu matou, Ake! Abe! Ake!'' (We will fight on forever and ever) will go reverberating through the ages. May the fight of the future be not to slay meu but to uplift them. They mut-t put on tho armour of good living, education, and hard work. These alone would save the Maori people."
