(Per Press Association.)
Auckland, March 7
Superintendent Kelly says there is not an atom of evidence to support the statement made by Mrs Field at the Women's Christiau Temperance Union meeting that there is au organised system at work iv this country for recruiting girls to the underworld. Referring to particular instances quoted by Mrs Field the superintendent said there were a few cases to which a certain amount of suspicion attached that had beeu reported to the police, but in none was thereau atom of evidence to show the existence of white slavery. Mr Kcily added : " I can say without hesitation that so far as Auckland, is concerned there is not a vestige of truth in the assertion. I can also say with almost as much confidence that white slavery is unknown iv New Zealand.
