SAD OCCUUHENCE AT

AUCKLAND

Auckland, January 17

While over a hundred people were bathing at Shelly Beach about eight o'clock last evening a lad, Leslie Adams, I>S years of age, was apparently carried out by the current and drowned. No one heard any cry for help and no anxiety was felt until hours after when his clothing was found on the rocks.

A cousin of Adams' had noticed the h;t:er, who could not swim, up to his armpits in water. Later on he missed him and supposed that he had gone ashore. When the clothing was found search was made in a boat, but no trace could be found of the bodv.
