The Chairman stated that many ol the water troughs in the county were, rotten and he considered new ones should he provided. CLAIM FOR COMPENSATION". Korohiko Metua forwarded a. bequest for compensation for land taken from him for a road at the Kuahihi P.ridge. Me stated he was prepared to fake over another piece of land in exchange, or sell the area, live acros, to Che Council for ill;.. The letter was referred to Cr. Spence to enquire into. ENS PRANCE HATES. The Soutli British Insurance Company, Ltd.. notified that under the terms of "The Workers' Compensation Amendment Act, 11-M.1," which comes into operation on March Est, the Council's liability on account of u.c-1. icl-Mils t-o workmen. Avill ,>c- increased. The Company stated that it is holding the Council covered under the new Act. The addition will be at the rate of one-eijflvth of the premium at present being paid. PROPOSED KAITIMAKO ROAD. The Jiejristra.r of the Native Land Court, Auckland, notified that application for partition of Kaitimako N'os. 1. 2, a.yd 3 are included in the panui for Tauranga.

Mr M. Mack ay, Inglewood, wrote regarding the matter and stated that 'he had been asked to guarantee surveying fees, and he asked was it expeetetl that he should bear all expenses ?

It was decided to inform Mr Mac-k-ay that the Council is not prepared t<j pay the survoyinjj fees. (.OVRRXMENT GRANTS. The 'question of expenditure on T.t-h*.__wa*i Deviation was tdiscusscd. Cr. 'Spence contended that the question of accounts between the County Council and Katikati ' .load Hoard should be settled before any further expenditure is undertaken.

Cr. Stewart contended that there had been an over-expenditure on certain work.

It was decided to defer the work at 'Palmwai until the question of a' - counts between the Cou-hcil und the Hoard had been definitely settled. RIVKR ORSTRI'CTIOXS. Mr O. .1. Hodge. Chairman said that the Ohauiti Estate was being subdivided, and the owners wished to 'have some idea as to the roads which the Council would require.
