Mr 11. l'hillips, hon. secretary ot the Tauranga Chamber of Commerce, directed the Council's attention to •the following resolutions passed at a recent nieeting of the ' Chamber/. (I)' That this Chamber is of opinion it is advisable that a harbour board 'be set up to administer all naMigabjle w*aters in the Tauranga County; and that f such county be constituted the ■ Tauranga harbour /district. He thought it waf-a. bit rough to have to pay 7s 6d on small buggies. .- The Mayor referred to the by-law, which set out that 7s 6d was the charge for vehicles used for passengers. Cr. Munro pointed out that the charge originally proposed was 15s per vehicle. Mr New_h#.m s-tlated that the charge in Rotorua for buggies was 2s 6d each. Ihe librarian forwarded., list/show--in_ 90 subscribers, 11 new. Mrs Price, librarian, wrote asking the Council to consider the advisability of increasing her salary. In connection with the application the Library" Committee recommended that the salary be raised irom _0s to 12s 6d per week,, to commence from September. 1* The cammittee stated they considered Mrs Price .worthy ol more consideration, but think that the funds at the present time will not permit of further increase than the amount recommended.
