The Daily Express states that the fjgitives were overheard talking of their escape and both were arrested on Saturday, and aro being guarded in separate cabins, Crippen berng deprived of a revolver and penknife " Miss Le Neve wept and offered to make a statement to the police. Crippen demanded to know what "offence he had been charged with, and was told that he had contravened the law in repre&snting that his companion was a boy, and by giving a false name. ' The Daily Chronicle says that Crippen was very leisurely in his movement* in Belgium, and affected to be itt no hurry to sail. He pretended that he wished to sail on the IVfontrose's next voyage on August 31, and arranged to pay in August, but learning that there was no double-berth cabin available in August had decided to go immediately, and arranged to pay extra for such, accommodation. He inquired whether he had the option ef embarking at Quebec or Montreal and received a reply in the affirmative
