PERSONAL NOTES.
Mr H. J. Grieve, of Gisborne, is paying a visit to Tauranga. A Hnwera Press Association message announces the death of Sergeant llernard, who joined the force tn 1870, and retired only a short time ago. Mr McLaren, late of Waihi, who has been appointed V> the charge of the To I'uke Tost .-Office, passed through to Te luke yesterday. Mr Irvine, clerk of the Public Works Department, wlio has been transferred to Tfturanga from Wellington, arrive* fcere ))f to-day's steamer. Rev. Father Hunt, or the Rodemptorlat Order, reached Tauranga to-day, and will conduct a mission in connection with the Homan Catholic Church in various parts of vhe Bay of Plenty. Mr J. Bull has been returned unopposed ns Mayor for the ensuing year. Having sat on the Council! for some years, and previously occupied the Mayoral chair, Mr Bull is well versed in local civic affairs, and, therefore, fully qualified to hold the poslsion of chief magistrate of the town. In thanking the electors for the honour conferred upon him he says his best attention will be given to his duties, especially the water supply.
