NEW LAND DISCOVERED,

Paris, February 1 7. Dr. Chftrcot, the chief of the Fiench Antarctic expedition, -has sent a telegram to bis wife from Punta Arer as, in the Magellan Islands, announcing tbe discovery of a new land. His ship,, the Pourquoi Pas, arrived at Punta Arenas en route for borne, after encountering heavy gales. Tht members of tbe expedition suffered many hardships.
