Ban of Plenty Times. WEDNESDAY, APRIL 20, 1910. AUCKLAND WINTER SHOW.

The local committee in'erestel in the representation of this district at the Auckland Winter Show, uuder the auspices of the Tauranga Agricultural and Pastoral Association, mit on Moa day evening to consider the questijn of laving a court at the forthcoming Show in the northern capital, which is to open on July 18 next. We are plea?ed to be able to say that the committee were unanimous on the matter, and decided to endeavour towards excelling, if possible, all previous efforts to advertisa the district in this connection. In order that our exhibit should be worthy of the county it is absolutely necessary for all who have an interest in our progress to provide the sinews of war for this commendable enterprise To n\eet the exigencies of the case application will be made Jo the BoroughCouncil and the County' Council, anf 3 a canvass of the town and country will also be made. The committee is of the opinion that a sum of £50 is required to carry out the scheme which is being planned. This is a matter which deserves the hearty support of everyone, and affords an excellent opportunity of illustrating to outsiders what the soil of the district is capable of producing. Last May, thanks to the enegetic services of Mr Badger acda sturdy band of willing helperf, the Tauranga district was exceptionally well represented at the metro polition winter exhibition, tho dis play coming in for high encomiums from the Auckland press and public, and creating a thrill of pride in the hearts of coastal visitors. Encouraged by the success achieved on that occasion the committee is anxious to go one better this yearj provided the necessary money and products are forthcoming to assist towards that end. Ihe court will be one of many district courts which will be found the most attractive objects for the thousands who will view the displays. Lot every town and country resident rise to the occasion, and provide the means and the articles for the estimable cfti zeus who are undertaking to give the coast a bold advertisement, and the Dominion Jjn object lesson in the potentialities of the East Coast. Cci reals, root crops, and fruit are the chief items requlriDOfthe attention of growers at present. The committee is anxious to secure a sample of all apples and pears grown in the district, and, therefore, request us to urge upon' all to bring into the secretary, at once, all available samples, so that the committee may have them packed and Bent to Auckland for deposit in the cool chambers. As time goes on we shall refer to this very important mat ter ; meanwhile let us have a strong pull all together and thereby warrant success. The Bay of Plenty has now entered on its progressive march, bat it requires a greater population to permit of the' establishment of freez ing works and a canning factory. W hat better mirror can we present to outsiders of the district's capabilities than a comprehensive exhibit at the Auckland Winter Bhow.
