GOVERNOR KILLED. TROOPS JOIN THE RIOTERS. Pekin, April 15. Serioiu rioting has occured in Chang- ! sha, capital of the province of Hunan, owing to officials cornering «Le rice crop of the provir.ee. 1 he Wesleyan and two other missions were destroyed, while tbe British Con sulate and Imperial Maritime Customs offices were abandoned, all the foreigners tbking refuge aboard a merchant steamer. A British gunboat is proceeding to tbe scene. Peki.v, April 16. Id connection with the rioting in Cbangsha it is reported that tie Governor of Hunan Has bee.i killed, and that the position of foreigners is dangerous. \ London, Apr 18. Beater reports all was quiet at Hangku on Monday. The missionaries at Hunan have bee recalled. The ontI break wag partly due to rumours that the Powers wero about to partition China and partly to distress. Pekin, April 17. Six thousand foreign- drilled troops have joined the 24,000 famine stricken rioters in Chansha. The Governor's residence has been destroyed, and the Government bank pillaged. The City is in flames, Peklv, April 16. In connection with the rioting in Ohangsha it is reported that the Gover nor of Hunan has been killed, and that the position of foreigners is dangerous-. Pbkin, April 19. The riots in Changeha are subsiding. A number of missionaries — Spanish Augustinians — were drowned as the result of a collision. The dead included the Bishop of Northern Hunan.
