April 15. There is nothing new in regard to Powelka. His last au then tie appearance was that at Bunnythorpe, in the small hours of Wednesday morning, when a constable fired two shots after him. Later on tbe same day he was supposed to have been seen still fur ther north from Makino. Since then absolutely nothing, has been beard of him chough there have been the usual crop of reports of alleged appearances. The police are watchin g all over the district. Sergeant Maguire's body was taken to Wellington last evening, where the funeral is expected to take place on Sunday. An inquest will be held there on Saturday. The sergeant was not in a condition for his depositions to be taken. Pahiatua, April 15. The funeral of Michael Quirke toolplace in drenching rain, the preliminary service being held in the Catholic Church. A large congregation was present. Signs of mourning were general in the town.
