The Library Committee submitted*, report to the meeting of the Boroflgh Council on Monday night, stating t» the recent concert in aid of the lAbhtf funds had resulted in a surplus of £t 4s. The committee asked the Coaooi: to subsidise this amount by £10, tnf that the committee be permitted to call tenders for renovating the interior of the Library building. The rates of subscription* were 6&A as under : — Ratepayers : two or tbwe books, 6s per annum ; 2a per quartet. Non- ratepayers; One book, 6« pet annum, 2b per quarter; two bowl, 10s per annum, 3s per quarter. > , The Council adopted the regulation prepared by the committee for tkt guidance of the librarian It wtl decided to forward a copy of the role* to the librarian, and ask whether tb» '» prepared to act in accordance with W instructions contained therein. Tin Council voted £10 as a subsidy to tk* Library funds, to be ppent in aew books and renovation work. Tbe Library Committee were instructed to have the renovations to the interior of
the building carried out. ' Cr. Brabant signified his willingßHl to hand several new paper files to too Library, the cost of which amounted to 188. — The Chairman thanked Cr, $rabant for his donation.
