IS. i A young man, who gave his name - as Sidney Stevens, was arrested on a charge of obtainiug money by the sale d of mining shares which he did not ' possess. Representing himself to be '" John Burridge, of Nelson, . he sold to a 8. White and Co. 500 May Queens * shares and received £112 9s" in cash Bepresentiug himself as H. R. Dun- [. can, of Nelson, he sold through Messrs Mowbray 100 Watchman shares aod asked for a cash payment of £89 Os 4d, but tbe brokers insisted on paying by cheque. Suspicion being aroused payment was stopped. When arrested accused had £60 in his possession. V His solicitor stated that he would j plead guilty and restitution would be i«5 made of the money received by acie cased. Prisoner was remanded on 's bail of two sureties of £50 each.
