Major-General Sir Arthur Ellis, comptroller of the Ki?>g ? s household, died suddenly in- the stalls at Covent Garden during 1 «. gal-a performance. The public -imagined- that .he had only fainted. The news was withheld from King Edward and the Danish guests until after the performance. King Edward, on hearing the news, was -greatly shocked.
